Prayer

Prayer is crucial to the life of the church and the health of its people. If there is something you would like prayer for, you can post your request to the prayer wall below. You have the option to share publicly for everyone to see, anonymously in which everyone can see the prayer request but not your name, or choose to have it sent only to the elders by selecting "DO NOT Share This". You can also view others' prayer requests and let them know that you have been praying for them.

You may add your prayer request to our prayer wall using the form below. Once your prayer request is received, we will share it according to your instructions. Feel free to submit as many prayer requests as you like!

Filling the prayer wall today! I’m hoping many will be praying for Isabella this week, as a case team meeting (myself, her birthmom and birthmom’s lawyer, case workers, judge, etc.) will Zoom Monday afternoon. The primary agenda item will be how and when to return Bella to her mom. I believe we will be told she will need to leave this next week. Please pray that this sweet, trusting 3 year old will be totally surrounded by His comfort and peace, safe, secure, and attach well w/mom quickly and in a healthy way. Again, thank you all for your prayers at this emotional time for us all. We, of course, love her deeply.

Since late January, it’s been “fast & furious” regarding updates to my diagnosis.

From my 22Feb CT scan we learned the cancer had metastasized to my kidneys, adrenals and had significantly grown and spread in my liver. Blood work and symptoms show the start of liver failure.

Given the rapid aggressive growth of the cancer in my liver, on 24Feb a third (chemotherapy) drug was added to try and “pause” the growth and spread of cancer, specifically in the liver. Likely this will not reduce, but will hopefully give the immunotherapy drug (Keytruda) time to “kick-in”, as it takes 6-8 wks to start performing it’s intended function – to super-charge my immune system to fight the cancer. I had my first immunotherapy session on 24Feb and it should continue every 3 weeks.

Yesterday’s MRI of my brain showed widespread (45 locations) metastases of melanoma. At this time these lesions are not (perceptively) impacting any of my brain functions. Please pray I am able to get on the schedule early this week for radiation, as I am hoping to avoid being admitted.

This week has been exhausting in terms of the avalanche of "bad news". I feel like a punching bag used in one of Muhammad Ali's training sessions. Yet, God IS FAITHFUL and continues to use this experience to draw us/drive us to Him. May we know Christ as our peace that surpasses all understanding and be enveloped in God’s faithfulness and lovingkindness.

Assuming I respond “favorably” (no occurrence of any serious side-effects (UC or other) and the cancer is “progression-free”), my liver does not decline, etc., then treatment plan would be to remain on the UC and immunotherapy infusions for two years.

The bigger the cancer challenge, the bigger will be the miracle of His healing touch - if that is His will - as we pray so from our hearts. Either way - and I speak this by faith - His GRACE is sufficient!

Thank you for your prayers and encouragement!

Thank you all for your prayers. My Auntie Leonor passed today. That part of my extended family doesn't believe in the Lord. I ask you for prayers that my auntie Leonor had the opportunity to repent and cry out to the Lord and that my uncles and cousins will be able to see the Lord in the midst of that and that He will transform their hearts.

Please keep in your prayers my aunt Justy. She is my mom's sister, and she is someone that I love deeply. Praise God she is a believer. She had a very rough cancer some years ago, she recovered, but she has had various health issues, almost always in pain. But lately, her pain has aggravated, and the meds are not helping her much. Please pray for her pain to go away and endurance for her body.

Please pray for another relative from my extended family, her name is Leonor, she is in the hospital, she is probably 80 years old, she has been bleeding internally, and the doctors don't know what is causing that. She is not a believer, so please pray for her salvation and health.

Many of you already know, but I wanted to confirm that Scott has been home for one week and we have so much to be thankful for. The Lord has preserved Scott's life and has given us good medical care to follow up on his condition, congestive heart failure. We're also thanking the Lord for the ongoing encouragement and support from our church family.

Scott is understandably weak. His doctors have said his heart is functioning at about half capacity. He will be reevaluated in March to determine if his heart is repairing or if the damage will be permanent. This means he is mostly homebound. After Scott has regained more strength, we look forward to gathering with you on Sunday mornings.

Thank you so much for your prayers and encouragement.

Since discontinuing the immunotherapy late 2020 for stage 3 melanoma - due to the treatment induced ulcerative colitis (UC) - I've had CAT scans every 3-4 months. Last Thu we learned the (11Jan) biopsy verified the spots observed on my (21Dec) CAT scan are melanoma. The spots are on my lungs, liver & spleen appear to be slow growing - so the current diagnosis is stage 4 melanoma.

I have an appt this Wed to start discussing treatment options/next steps with the oncologist.

I've been going through Psalms and the day I received the report I read Psalm 62, and verses 5-8 really spoke to me.

We appreciate your prayers for wisdom regarding the treatment, peace, joy and hope in our precious Lord - and His healing either directly and/or through medical intervention.

In Christ,

Scott De Vight

Lorraine Brevig was in the hospital with double pneumonia a few weeks back. She’s been home for about 12 days. Today in a follow up doc appointment an X-ray showed she still has a significant amount of fluid in her lungs. They doubled her water pills and the doc will call her back in a week. Please pray she will be able to sleep comfortably and we will know if more attention is needed. She is discouraged with her recovery having never been sick like this in her 92 years.

Scott has been transferred to Bethany at SilverLake for some rehab therapy. He may not have any visitors; we are getting by with FaceTime several times a day.

We ask for your prayers regarding his appetite and swallow. He is not eating much. He’ll be given a swallow test soon which may help determine the source and solution to his difficulty. He is rather weak.

Thank you for your ongoing prayer support.

Scott Golike's Update

Please keep praying for a full recovery.

He is now off of oxygen, his lungs are clear, they are still keeping the diuretic going to get a little bit more fluid off of his lungs, the infection count is down, there's no fever, the germ was a strep germ which they were able to diagnose and then adjust to the right antibiotic for that particular strep. The kidney count has improved and the doctor says he is "rolling downhill now".

He also confirmed that we will need to admit him to a short-term rehab/skilled nursing facility which will be arranged by the case management. They are searching that out now.

Praise God for good progress!

In Christ,

Mark Golike
