Prayer

Prayer is crucial to the life of the church and the health of its people. If there is something you would like prayer for, you can post your request to the prayer wall below. You have the option to share publicly for everyone to see, anonymously in which everyone can see the prayer request but not your name, or choose to have it sent only to the elders by selecting "DO NOT Share This". You can also view others' prayer requests and let them know that you have been praying for them.

You may add your prayer request to our prayer wall using the form below. Once your prayer request is received, we will share it according to your instructions. Feel free to submit as many prayer requests as you like!

Many of you already know, but I wanted to confirm that Scott has been home for one week and we have so much to be thankful for. The Lord has preserved Scott's life and has given us good medical care to follow up on his condition, congestive heart failure. We're also thanking the Lord for the ongoing encouragement and support from our church family.

Scott is understandably weak. His doctors have said his heart is functioning at about half capacity. He will be reevaluated in March to determine if his heart is repairing or if the damage will be permanent. This means he is mostly homebound. After Scott has regained more strength, we look forward to gathering with you on Sunday mornings.

Thank you so much for your prayers and encouragement.

Since discontinuing the immunotherapy late 2020 for stage 3 melanoma - due to the treatment induced ulcerative colitis (UC) - I've had CAT scans every 3-4 months. Last Thu we learned the (11Jan) biopsy verified the spots observed on my (21Dec) CAT scan are melanoma. The spots are on my lungs, liver & spleen appear to be slow growing - so the current diagnosis is stage 4 melanoma.

I have an appt this Wed to start discussing treatment options/next steps with the oncologist.

I've been going through Psalms and the day I received the report I read Psalm 62, and verses 5-8 really spoke to me.

We appreciate your prayers for wisdom regarding the treatment, peace, joy and hope in our precious Lord - and His healing either directly and/or through medical intervention.

In Christ,

Scott De Vight

Lorraine Brevig was in the hospital with double pneumonia a few weeks back. She’s been home for about 12 days. Today in a follow up doc appointment an X-ray showed she still has a significant amount of fluid in her lungs. They doubled her water pills and the doc will call her back in a week. Please pray she will be able to sleep comfortably and we will know if more attention is needed. She is discouraged with her recovery having never been sick like this in her 92 years.

Scott has been transferred to Bethany at SilverLake for some rehab therapy. He may not have any visitors; we are getting by with FaceTime several times a day.

We ask for your prayers regarding his appetite and swallow. He is not eating much. He’ll be given a swallow test soon which may help determine the source and solution to his difficulty. He is rather weak.

Thank you for your ongoing prayer support.

Scott Golike's Update

Please keep praying for a full recovery.

He is now off of oxygen, his lungs are clear, they are still keeping the diuretic going to get a little bit more fluid off of his lungs, the infection count is down, there's no fever, the germ was a strep germ which they were able to diagnose and then adjust to the right antibiotic for that particular strep. The kidney count has improved and the doctor says he is "rolling downhill now".

He also confirmed that we will need to admit him to a short-term rehab/skilled nursing facility which will be arranged by the case management. They are searching that out now.

Praise God for good progress!

In Christ,

Mark Golike

Mark Golike contacted me this morning and said, "my dad had a major heart attack in the night and a had a stent put in, they will put in a second on Sunday. He is not in pain, they are monitoring him closely. Visitors are not allowed, so we ask for your prayers."

I would love to have prayers for my hip replacement surgery tomorrow (12.8); both for my surgeon and surgery team, as well as, for my recovery at home over the next few weeks. Thank you.

Please pray for dear friends of ours (they requested we share this request). She was my small group leader in college. They have just lost their 28 year old son to a massive cardiac event. They are grieving terribly. Their 26 year old daughter, Kathryn, also just lost one of her best friends. Her parents would like prayer for her faith to remain through this, and that she would find a church to attend that can help her grow through this (she’s in Chicago). Their 23 year old , Carl, is facing a major surgery on December 22. He also has some heart problems so they’re very nervous about his going through this surgery. The parents are Amy and Dan. They need us to lift up their family as they journey this hard path.

So very thankful for all your intercession on behalf of my friend, Jeannie. I praise God that she came through the surgery and they found less damage than had appeared on the scans.

She is on a respirator for now and faces a challenging recovery with many medical issues. But the surgery is over and I can’t begin to express how valued your prayers have been.
